Taiwan As An Asian Hub?Outlook & Opportunities
INVITATION

Dear Sir/Madam:

You are cordially invited to attend the “Taiwan as An Asian Hub? Outlook & Opportunities” forum hosted jointly by the Science & Technology Division, TECO in San Francisco; Taiwan Trade Center in San Francisco; and ITRI International Inc. at 2:00 pm on November 13, 2009 (Friday) at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Cypress Room, of Santa Clara, California.

Facing the turning point of a new economy, the Taiwan Government has started a series of innovative projects called the “Intelligent Taiwan” program. Among the projects is the “Six Emerging Industries Development Plan” which is one of the most promising initiatives. The plan has been designed to transform Taiwan into an Asian Hub: the platform to bridge a team of cooperation between Taiwan, Asia, and the World.

The six emerging industries identified are biotechnology, tourism, green energy, healthcare, agriculture, and cultural & creative industries, in which ICT (Information and Communications Technologies) will be the core enabler for sustainable development. The plans and the funds are all ready and the Silicon Valley has been chosen to be the debut in calling for international partners.

Dr. Jin-Fu Chang, Minister of State, Executive Yuan, Taiwan, ROC, is leading a delegation to the San Francisco Bay Area on November 13, 2009, to present the blue print of the “Six Emerging Industries Development Plan”, its outlooks and opportunities. Their presentations will unfold Taiwan’s industrial policies and your presence will fuel the plan with valuable feedback. Together we will create more positive US-Taiwan collaboration. It is a “must-attend” forum (the program is attached).

We are looking forward to your participation.

Sincerely yours,
Joseph Yang, Director, Science & Technology Div., TECO in San Francisco,
Bret Lee, Executive Director, Taiwan Trade Center, San Francisco, Sean Wang, President, ITRI International Inc.
