CASPA 2009 Scholastic and Special Achievement Award
The Chinese American Semiconductor Professional Association (CASPA) is now accepting applications for 2009 Scholastic and Special Achievement Award.  The final award recipients will be notified by September 30, 2009 and awards will be presented at the CASPA Annual Conference Banquet on October 24, 2009.
Following a long-standing tradition of pursuing excellence and community service, CASPA has established this award program to encourage and recognize the outstanding scholastic and special achievements of the children of its members. Selection criteria will be based on a balanced achievement of applicants' academic accomplishments, participation in extracurricular activities and involvement in community service.  Each award winner will be invited to attend the CASPA 2009 Annual Conference Banquet and receive a Plaque of Merit with a check of one hundred dollars scholarship.
All applicants must meet the following qualifications:
a) Children of active CASPA members with one year membership or CASPA lifetime members
b) High school senior in September 2009 (i.e. Class of 2009 only)
All applicants must submit the following documents:
1. A completed application form (uses the attached form or downloads from www.caspa.com).
2. A passport type personal photo (to be published in the Conference Proceedings)
3. A copy of high school Transcript and SAT1 score report
4. A personal essay (no more than 300 words in MSWord format):
§ My Interests, Accomplishments and Goals, or
§ Why should I be awarded a CASPA Student Scholarship
5. An information page (use the template on page 3 or downloads from www.caspa.com) of brief summary of honor and awards received, offices of student organizations held, extracurricular activities, community service involved, volunteer work experience, etc.
Methods of delivery:
a) Send the complete package (items 1 thru 5 in softcopy) by e-mail to Ms. Margaret Han (margaret_han@yahoo.com).
b) Send a digitized photo, your essay and the information page (items 2, 4 and 5) by email to Margaret Han (margaret_han@yahoo.com). Send application form and a copy of your school transcript and SAT1 score (items 1, 3) to CASPA Student Scholarship Committee, c/o Margaret Han, 1159 Sonora Court, Suite 105, Sunnyvale, CA 94086.

CASPA Student Scholarship Award Selection
1. Objective: To recognize and encourage CASPA members’ children’s scholastic or special achievements
2. Award: The award recipient will receive a plaque of Merit and a one-time cash scholarship
3. Qualification:
a) The applicant must be a high school senior in September 2009 (i.e. Class of 2010 only)
b) One of his/her parent must be an active CASPA member by October 31, 2008 and all time during 2009 or a lifetime member.
4. Application deadline: September 15, 2009 (postmarked).
5. Send the application packet to:
c) CASPA Student Scholarship Selection Committee, c/o Ms. Margaret Han, 1159 Sonora Court, Suite 105, Sunnyvale, CA 94086. Send softcopy items to Margaret Han (margaret_han@yahoo.com).
6. Selection Process: Every applicant will be notified by email of the receipt of application.  The 2009 CASPA Scholarship Selection Committee appointed by the CASPA Board of Directors will select the recipients of the Awards.  The final recipients will be notified by September 30th and are invited to attend the Student Scholarship Award Ceremony during the CASPA Annual Conference Banquet on October 24, 2009.
