Event Introduction

With the rapid progress in Internet of Things and proliferation of mobile applications, devices with built-in sensors are widely used in healthcare for collecting and accessing patient’s vital data in real time at any place. Embedded devices in human body have shown great promises to allow doctors to do much more sophisticated treatments which have never been possible before.

As an industry sector closely linked with the well being of every one of us, healthcare is heavily influenced by the regulatory regime it resides in. The change in the regulatory regime has indisputable impact on the speed of innovation and associated business opportunities in healthcare industry. Speaker Bios:

Dr. Yan Chow, MD, MBA

Dr. Yan Chow is a well known health care technologist, physician executive, and entrepreneur. He currently serves as the National Director of Innovation & Advanced Technology Group at Kaiser Permanente, where he oversees the largest and most technologically advanced private integrated healthcare delivery system in the U.S.

He is a Senior Physician at The Permanente Medical Group, with two decades of primary care clinical practice experience and a deep understanding of healthcare business drivers. He is the founder and advisor for several technology startups.
Dr. Chow is also the former physician leader for regional operational and innovative IT systems, and a software/database developer and co-inventor of ultrafast network storage technology with 3 U.S. patents.
Dr. Chow is a UC Berkeley Haas MBA valedictorian with special interests in strategy, operations, entrepreneurship, and innovation. He receives MD of Medicine from University of California, San Diego - School of Medicine, and AB degree of Biochemistry (Honors) of Harvard University.
Dr. Jeffery Wei, PhD, MBA
Dr. Wei is Chairman and CEO of Wei Laboratories, Inc. He was founding CEO of Uhere Corporation, an internet start-up company. He had worked in different executive functions at Applied Materials, Emerson Electric and Infoseek, a Walt Disney Internet company.
Dr. Wei Obtained his PhD. in Biochemistry from the University of Minnesota. His postdoctoral training was accomplished at Massachusetts General Hospital with a Staff appointment at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Wei also holds an MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management. He earned his MS degree in Biophysics from Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Science and His BS in Biology degree from University of Science and Technology of China.
