Be a part of one of Intersil's most prominent Applications Engineering Teams.  Computing Power Management based in Durham, NC, offers individuals participation in product development and applications support for Intersil’s Desktop power management product family. Such products include DC/DC conversion ICs (single and multi-phase PWM controllers and MOSFET drivers), multiple-output controllers including linear regulators, integrated MOSFET products, hot-plug controllers, etc.

Responsibilities include supporting existing products, defining new products, participating on new product development teams, circuit board level design, interfacing with existing or potential customers, providing expert technical support to key customers and field support personnel, analyzing competitive solutions and document/report results. Product definition competency is a key component to this role and essential for working with Marketing and Design teams toward developing the next generation of Intersil’s power management ICs. Duties include, but are not limited to:

•    Validate new IC’s in the lab, verifying compliance to product specification. Document and communicate issues to the development team, assist in identifying root cause and potential design or application solutions.
•    Design, manage build, and create documentation for evaluation boards.
•    Write product data sheets and product applications notes.
•    Help define roadmaps for new products using industry trends combined with inputs from customers and field sales, with a key focus on product differentiation.
•    Respond to technical inquiries from customers. Verify and provide solutions to applications issues, closely interfacing with field applications engineers and sales force.
•    Visit customers in the field to learn applications trends, promote new products, and identify opportunities.
•    Write and publish technical articles in trade journals.
•    Assist MARCOM with technical inputs for the generation of internet based material including master selection guides, applications guides, etc.
•    Create technical training material and present at periodic FAE training sessions.


•    Must have BSEE/MSEE with a minimum of 5-10 years of industry experience in the field of power electronics.
•    The ideal candidate would exhibit highly critical, analytical thinking, strong teamwork skills, excellent communication skills, and a strong desire to excel.
•    Solid knowledge of DC/DC switch mode power topologies, mastery of the typical tools of the trade (hardware and software).
•    Previous experience with computing power management applications highly desirable, but not an absolute prerequisite.
