The Field Quality Engineer will be responsible for providing on-site and remote customer technical support focusing on system/component level failure verification, 1st level Field Failure Analysis assignment of root cause of failures, customer training, addressing customer quality issues, and post sales applications support.

Key objectives are as follows:
Implement new strategic field support initiatives, such as Field Failure Verification and Field Failure Analysis, that will drive significant improvements in customer’s reported quality issues, return volume of defective devices, and cycle-time/effectiveness of implemented corrective actions.

Work with the customers to obtain detailed information on devices requiring test verification and formal failure analysis.

Track and improve Field Quality metrics and report them formally to both Intersil and key customers. Provide customer specific quality and applications information back into Intersil’s quality, reliability, engineering, and manufacturing needed for ongoing product and process improvements.

Build strong customer loyalty through proactive customer engagements.  Travel will be required throughout the Asia area.


•    BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
•    Prefer 10 years experience in the electronics industry with least to 5 years experience in the semiconductor industry.
•    Proven knowledge and ability to analyze and troubleshoot semiconductor devices in customer applications and accurately determine the assignable cause of the failure.
•    Knowledgeable in 1st level failure analysis such as x-ray, cross section, chemical/mechanical deprocessing, CSAM, and SEM analysis.
•    Strong working knowledge of EOS/ESD detection and prevention methods with experience in performing ESD audits a plus.
•    Working knowledge of moisture sensitivity of hydroscopic materials and the appropriate handling/reflow procedures (JEDEC standards).
•    Experience and proven record in successfully training customers in items 3, 5, and 6 above.
•    Excellent problem solving skills and use of 8D and/or 5-Why.
•    Working knowledge of ISO/TS procedures/requirements a plus.
•    Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills in working with various internal functional groups as well as customers.
