The Evolving Semiconductor Landscape - Challenges & Opportunities of Taiwan IC Industry

Forum Moderator :

Mr. Jerry Chen, Chairman & President, CASPA

Semiconductor industry started from North America in Silicon Valley. Chinese entrepreneurs and technical experts have played a crucial role in growing and advancing the technology and defining new business models. Chinese-American is definitely the wind beneath the wing of world’s semiconductor industry.

Since TSMC defined the foundry business model, Taiwan has successfully built a complete semiconductor eco-system with a leading position in wafer foundry, design, packaging and testing.

China has emerged as the largest consumer electronics and semiconductor consumption market in the world.   In recent years, China has further increase its importance as a manufacturing site and IC design talent pool attracting many MNC design centers and new IC fabless companies.

In this new era, Taiwan faces the challenges of adapting to the new semiconductor landscape with increasing competition and declining margin.  On the other hand, Taiwan also has an unique opportunity to further leverage the global Chinese/Taiwanese semiconductor veterans in US, Silicon Valley and China to renew the Taiwan IC industry with open-minded collaboration, innovation and business development.

You already know that China matters.

You already know that China offers tremendous business opportunities.

The challenge lies in gaining an understanding of China that can be translated into actions.

That's what the HYSTA annual conference is all about.

With the theme "China's Impact on the Global Economy", the conference is designed to deliver an on-the-ground perspective of what's really happening in China.

This year's sessions will address areas ranging from China's domestic economy to Silicon Valley companies who have succeeded in China to Chinese brands morphing into global players. Equally important, we've recruited some of the best minds in the world, tapping speakers from both China and Silicon Valley.

The conference's value also come through the informal discussions that take place over the course the day. By bringing together a mix of executives, venture capitalists, academics, government officials, entrepreneurs and other ecosystem players, the opportunity is there to expand your China Rolodex.

In short, there's no better way to come up the China learning curve than by spending one day at the HYSTA conference.

Thank you for your kind attention and generous support.  We look forward to seeing you at CASPA events.
